Aren't You Happy You Have a Home?
Not everyone's so lucky. Little Mamacita here, doesn't have anywhere to go this Thanksgiving. My friends Jannese and Debra rescued her, but can't keep her for several very valid reasons. I met Mamacita and I can vouch for both her cuteness and sweet disposition. I'm just going to let Jannese tell you what's going on. If you can help, please contact her at the email addy listed after the jump:
UPDATE: Mamacita still doesn't have a home, but she does have a blog!
Debra and I caught the stray, Mamacita, that lives in the parking lot on the corner of our block this Sunday. Mamacita, has lived there for about 8 years and the neighborhood folks fed her and loved her. She was also caught about 8 years ago, spayed, and released. She's a sweet and tough petite little girl and has survived many harsh summers and winters, but this Fall she fell ill and she started deteriorating. So after many tries at capturing her we finally succeeded this Sunday and brought her to our vet at Animal Kind Medical Center in Park Slope. She has had every test under the sun and she tested negative for both Feline Leukemia and HIV. She's also free of Kidney, liver and thyroid diseases. Her only problem is that she's elderly and may have inflammatory bowel disease which is treatable with antibiotics which they already started her on. She is currently residing at the vet's which is costing Debra a small fortune (she also paid for all the tests and medicine).
Many folks on the block who claim to love this kitty have said they
would help financially or try finding a home for her, but few have
contributed financially and no one is helping in finding her a home. If
we put her back in the parking lot were she may what to be she may die
this winter because she's weak and needs time to heal. So we really
need to find her a home quickly and it has to be someone who is willing
to provide her medical care. She's incredibly friendly, she loves a
belly rub, and she's very tidy, she knows how to use her litter box.
She tolerates dogs and other cats. She's very petite—so small she looks
like
a kitten. Please help us find her a home. Contact us at ilovemamacita@yahoo.com. Please be serious and well intentioned.
Please help Mamacita!!!!!
This just made me tear up. I really wish I could help. We have 12 cats of our own on the ranch, several that my man rescued when previous owners abandoned them. I hope you, Debra, and Jannese can find Mamacita the home she deserves.

Looks like I discovered this site—and the saga—after it all transpired. Live a block away and didn't realize that Mustache (that's what everyone in the neighborhood called her) was rescued. Here are some pics of her in the parking lot she grew up in:

FYI, she was born there and quite far from being a stray. Taken care of by the parking lot attendants as well as neighbors old and new; she knew every dog that walked that block. Odd to think of her being in the Poconos now.
