We've almost set a date and so I've been researching wedding crap. That's what women are supposed to do, right? I'm the bride. I need a cute outfit. But that's about it. Or so I thought. Reading through various wedding websites and magazines would have me think otherwise and the whole experience has been kind of alienating. It's like being shot through a cannon back to the 1950s. I can accept this, to a certain extent. But this bride's plea, really bugged the crap outta me:
I spoke with a DJ yesterday and was surprised to find out that it was a woman (slightly older). She had a great personality and a great voice, and her musical style is very flexible depending on what I want. It all sounds good, and the price seems OK. But I guess whenever I think “DJ,” I think a younger male. Am I the only one who thinks this way? Maybe it’s from all my clubbing days…
Although I liked her, I asked the company to set up another phone interview with a male DJ just so that I can get a feel for personalities.
So, what do you think about a female DJ?
I have no thoughts either way about a female DJ, because a DJ is a person who spins records, which is a gender-neutral profession. It's not like they have to do anything mancentric—like be able to pee their own name in the snow. I'm hoping somebody buys this bitch a clue for her wedding. Though I'm guessing that's not in the registry.
